Michael Boyd
Financial Adviser
Michael Boyd has 20 years’ experience in the finance industry, 15 of those as a Financial Planner with National Australia Bank. In April 2020 Michael, together with business partner Alan McDowell established their own Business “Boyd McDowell” to cater to the growing needs of customers in Warrnambool and the South West.
During his diverse career Michael has gained invaluable knowledge and experience in the areas of Taxation, Accounting, Finance, Business & Teaching and has attained the following qualifications: Bachelor of Commerce, Advance Diploma Financial Planning, Diploma & Graduate Certificate of Vocational Education and Training, Fellow Chartered Financial Practitioner. Michael has also attained his FASEA qualifications in 2019.
Michael’s strengths lie in his ability to form trusted and long-standing relationships that focus on the ‘Financial Wellbeing’ of his many clients. His ethical and effective business practices ensure the best outcomes for the client and establish him as a leader in his field.
Away from work Michael enjoys a game of golf and regular walks along the beach promenade. Michael and his wife Helen are kept busy enjoying time with their 4 children and 6 grandchildren.
Alan McDowell
Financial Adviser
Alan has worked in the financial services industry for over 20 years. He has a real passion for helping clients maintain a standard of living they are accustomed to and does this by removing the complexities that can confront them with financial planning. “There is no point in putting together a hugely complex portfolio with high fees attached if a client does not understand the basic fundamentals of the strategy” Alan specialises in assisting clients with any Centrelink queries and Aged Care issues.
Alan has been a long term Warrnambool resident with strong ties to the Athletics and Golf communities. He is a Life Member of the Warrnambool Athletics Club and was Captain of the Warrnambool Golf Club for several years and maintains a strong interest in both clubs.
Alan is married to Cathy and they have 3 adult daughters – Grace, Tess & Beth

Evelyn joined Boyd McDowell in February 2023.
Evelyn has a vast knowledge of the finance industry having worked in finance for the past 20 years.
Evelyn is a hard working team member and loves being part of a great team working towards getting the best possible results for clients.
When not at work Evelyn loves camping with her family , reading and cooking.
Gena joined the Boyd McDowell Financial Planning team in 2020 after she graduated from Deakin University with a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Financial Planning and Accounting. She enjoys learning from and providing assistance to Michael and Alan and being involved in the plan preparation and wealth management processes to help clients achieve their financial goals. Outside the office, Gena enjoys catching up with friends, op-shopping, doing jigsaw puzzles and watching reality TV shows.
